WWE taped the New Year’s Eve episode of NXT TV on December 19, and Fightful has shared some backstage notes from last week’s tapings.
Shotzi, who worked the tapings, was part of a match that reportedly had the internal title “New Year’s Eve.”
Shotzi teamed with Gigi Dolin in a Triple Threat Tag Team Match against Lash Legend & Jakara Jackson, and Kayden Carter & Katana Chance.
However, Shotzi reportedly experienced an injury scare as she had a “Lita-esque” landing following a suicide dive but showed no signs of injury backstage afterward. She managed to finish the match without any issues.
Also, during the NXT tapings, Kelani Jordan defeated Lola Vice in a singles contest. Following the match, Cora Jade attempted to attack Vice with a Kendo Stick, but Stephanie Vaquer came to the rescue.
While some fans speculated on social media that this result could mean Vice is being called up to the main roster, Fightful clarified that Vice’s loss is not intended to write her off NXT, as this angle was planned to set up her next feud.
And finally, the Dion Lennox vs. Ashante Thee Adonis match that aired on this week’s show was initially pitched as a mixed tag team match featuring Karmen Petrovic and Nikkita Lyons.
