Teddy Long is interested in seeing one of TNA’s biggest names face off against CM Punk in WWE as the Best in the World aims to make 2025 his year.
Recently, Jeff Hardy shared that he’d like to face CM Punk one more time, and claimed he’d like to retire Punk before entering the Hall of Fame.
On a recent edition of the “Wrestling Time Machine” podcast, Long discussed the idea of Punk vs. Hardy, a match that he’s interested to see. He said,
“Not a bad idea, Hardy and CM Punk. I don’t think he’s gonna retire Punk. Punk is not ready to retire. Like I said, if I was those two, I would just worry about going into the Hall of Fame.”
Hardy and Punk feuded on SmackDown in 2009 during Long’s lengthy tenure as the general manager of the blue brand.
The fondly-remembered feud between the two saw the pair delve into real issues including Hardy’s problems with substance abuse.
A win for Punk over Hardy would see Jeff be banished from WWE before he returned to the promotion at WrestleMania 33 in 2017.
After this week’s RAW, Punk declared himself the Men’s Royal Rumble match and vowed to hold championship gold in WWE this year.
