Teddy Long has seen a lot of tag teams come and go in WWE, but hopes that fans haven’t seen the last of Jade Cargill and Bianca Belair.
On the latest episode of WWE SmackDown, Cargill was attacked in the parking lot, prompting Belair to abandon her Women’s U.S. Title tournament match.
Some have speculated that Belair attacked Cargill before the match, or had someone attack her tag team partner while the EST was in the ring.
On a recent edition of the “Wrestling Time Machine” podcast, Long shared why he’d be opposed to seeing the end of the pair. He said,
“Let me say this. Golly, they look to get together, Bianca and Jade. Why would you break this up right now? You could get a good run out of them. Like I said, I don’t understand that part of it and we don’t know until it actually happens. I look at it as a tease but I just wouldn’t break them up right away. They look so good together, let them have a good run.”
Belair and Cargill are in their second reign as Women’s Tag Team Champions after regaining the titles from the Unholy Union at Bash In Berlin.
WWE has not shared what this injury will mean for their title reign. In the past, the titles have been vacated but we’ve also seen the remaining champion find a new partner.
