There were plans in place for The Godfather to return to action for WWE in 2020, before the COVID-19 pandemic derailed those plans.
On a recent edition of his “Poddin’ Aint’ Easy” podcast, The Godfather shared plans for him to return to WWE as three of his characters. He said,
“I agreed to come out to that [Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal]… I was going to come out as Kama, get eliminated, then I was gonna come back as Godfather, get eliminated, and then I was gonna … I don’t even remember what, I know that the last thing was Papa Shango… and COVID hit and they didn’t do it.”
2020 marks the first year WWE has not done the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal since the match debuted back in 2014.
On the podcast, The Godfather also addressed his pimp character being too far for modern-day TV, but perhaps not for Netflix. He said,
“They’re so PG and, when they see me, the audience wants to yell, ‘Where’s the Hoes?’ You might see me down at … once they go on Netflix I wouldn’t be [surprised]. I mean, I’m still under contract. I’m still under contract with them so I’m sure you might see me pop up.”
WWE will move to Netflix next month. Fans in the U.S. will receive RAW while those outside the U.S. will receive RAW, SmackDown, NXT, and pay-per-views.
