CM Punk isn’t expected to be back in the ring until late in 2024 after suffering an injury last weekend at the Royal Rumble pay-per-view event, according to Dave Meltzer.
During the men’s Royal Rumble match, Punk suffered a triceps injury and on this week’s episode of WWE RAW, confirmed that he will miss WrestleMania 40 in April.
On today’s edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Meltzer said that September was a reasonable return date for CM Punk, and discussed what this could mean. He said,
“[September] is interesting, really interesting, because they set up the big angle with Drew McIntyre tonight to be his opponent when he returns, and Drew McIntyre’s not under contract past April. And that has not changed. Which really surprised me when I watched it.”
Punk had previously been expected to challenge Seth Rollins at WrestleMania 40. On RAW, the World Heavyweight Champion tried to persuade Cody Rhodes to face him this April.
