The Rock returned to WWE on this week’s episode of SmackDown to have a staredown with Roman Reigns after Cody Rhodes revealed that he wouldn’t be facing Reigns at WrestleMania 40.
On Friday night’s episode of WWE SmackDown, Roman Reigns came out to the ring for a promo segment where he addressed Seth Rollins’ claims on RAW that he was a part-timer and didn’t hold the “real” WWE Championship. This led to Cody Rhodes coming out, who announced that “finishing the story” means he wants the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship and everything Reigns has. With that being said, Cody announced that he’ll still be taking everything from Reigns – it just won’t be at WrestleMania.
Rhodes revealed that he’s been taking a lot of advice from his “special counsel,” which brought out The Rock.
As WWE SmackDown went off the air, The Rock and Roman Reigns had a staredown with no words exchanged. The tease here (and it was a big one!) was that The Rock vs. Roman Reigns will be taking place at WrestleMania 40. Cody Rhodes will now likely go on to face Seth Rollins or someone else.
