Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson almost appeared on Hot Ones but had one unusual request: no chicken wings. The popular YouTube series, known for its spicy wing challenge, revolves entirely around interviews conducted while eating a series of progressively spicier hot wings, making this an odd departure to ask for.
According to host Sean Evans during an interview with Bloomberg, The Rock has been someone they’ve wanted on the show, but his unusual replacement for the traditional chicken wings is a problem standing in the way of the WWE Superstar making an appearance, stating:
“We’ve been pitching [The Rock] obviously for years and one time I got a note back that was like, ‘would you be willing to do, instead of wings, grilled salmon strips?’ And in my head I was like, that had to come from his mouth … that’s as close as we’ve gotten. And then it fell through.”
The Rock is very meticulous about his diet and workout plan, frequently being profiled and charted for how he achieves his signature look, as well as what his cheat meals are. It seems hot wings are enough of a deal-breaker for him to not want to participate in the show.
