WWE Hall of Famer The Undertaker has criticized wrestlers who are willing to make a clear break from their character when outside of the ring.
Speaking out of character on his “Six Feet Under” podcast, the Phenom addressed the intricacies of wrestlers breaking character. He said,
“There is a huge disconnect for me. Even being in the business, there’s so much — and I try to tell guys this all the time. Like, ‘You’re trying to be this character, you’re trying to be this individual. And then you go and go on social media, and you’re bouncing around acting like an idiot.’ I was just like, ‘How is anybody supposed to take you seriously? This is what pays the bill. This is what you are. This is what you are trying to be. And you’re not there yet.’”
The Undertaker remained fixed to his on-screen character for decades before his Final Farewell at WWE Survivor Series in November 2020.
Since then, however, The Undertaker has repeatedly spoken out of character, including weighing in on the upcoming Presidential election.
The Undertaker’s most recent appearance for WWE came at WrestleMania 40 where he was part of Cody Rhodes’ victory over Roman Reigns.
