Tommy Dreamer believes there are both pros and cons to the WWE ID program, the promotion’s tactic to recruit independent talent.
The program will see recruits, known as prospects, receive access to the WWE Performance Center and financial support from the promotion.
On a recent edition of the “Busted Open Radio” podcast, Dreamer reflected on the good that the WWE ID program could bring. He said,
“I like the school concept of it because they’re teaching you how to be television performers… I also think it gives independent wrestlers more hope. [Kylie Rae] has wrestled for…TNA, AEW, NWA, she’s been out there, she’s phenomenal, and again gives hope for people who have been doing this for quite some time.”
On the other hand, Dreamer suggested that WWE ID could disrupt the indie scene and will make it hard for wrestlers to lose to non-WWE ID talent.
Dreamer also feared that talent could be stripped from the independent scene too early, before having the chance to fully sharpen their skills.
