Tony D’Angelo failed to beat Oba Femi for the NXT North American Championship at NXT No Mercy, but he hasn’t given up on the idea quite yet. Last week, he admitted to Adriana Rizzo that he was afraid of failing a second time, only for her and the rest of The D’Angelo Family to give him a pep talk about how they would help him train to be better equipped and ready for a rematch.
This week on WWE NXT, a vignette aired that showed just that, with The Family going old school to not only train him, but boost his confidence.

Next week in Chicago on the October 1st episode of NXT (and The CW Network premiere), it appears there could be a contract signing, as D’Angelo mentioned that in the above vignette. However, that could just go on behind the scenes, as it was also announced soon after this segment that The Miz would be having Tony D and Femi as his guests for the previously already scheduled MizTV promo, which will effectively be the same thing.
After another commercial break, Oba Femi was interviewed by several off-screen reporters about his thoughts on the D’Angelo footage. Femi effectively said he has nothing to say, leaving most of that for next week.
They will face off for the NXT North American Championship in two weeks when NXT comes to The Factory in St. Louis, Missouri.
Here is the current updated card for the October 8th edition of WWE NXT:
- Randy Orton vs. Je’Von Evans
- NXT Tag Team Championship Match: Axiom & Nathan Frazer (c) vs. A-Town Down Under (Austin Theory & Grayson Waller)
- NXT North American Championship Match: Oba Femi (c) vs. Tony D’Angelo
- Sexyy Red appearance.
