CM Punk’s positive influence within the WWE NXT brand can not be understated, according to reigning WWE NXT World Champion Trick Williams.
While Punk is currently unable to wrestle, the former AEW/WWE World Champion has been present at NXT events and has reportedly shared advice with the roster.
On a recent edition of the “Unlikely with Adrian Hernandez” podcast, Williams spoke about Punk’s presence with the gold brand. He said,
“Mentor is a perfect way to put it, man. He has been a blessing for all of us who would take the time to actually go talk to him and reach out to him. He’s helped me with a few things that I feel like, if the crowd knew about it, they would be very grateful that he did. I’ll just leave it there. Shoutout to CM Punk. He’s been a positive light for all of us here in NXT.”
Earlier this year, Booker T alleged that he and CM Punk had been part of a backstage incident at an NXT show before admitting he made it up for clickbait.
Williams’ next match will come at this weekend’s NXT Battleground pay-per-view event where he will defend his NXT Championship against Ethan Page.
