We have a new NXT World Champion as Trick Williams defeated Ethan Page in the main event of The CW Network premiere of WWE NXT to win the title.
Special guest referee CM Punk held to his word that he would call the action right down the middle and show no preferential treatment during the contest, even when Page had his moments of being antagonistic toward him.
In the end, Williams scored a clean pinfall with the Trick Shot, capturing his second NXT Championship and putting him in a club of multi-time winners that includes Bron Breakker, Finn Balor, Karrion Kross, Samoa Joe, Shinsuke Nakamura and Tommaso Ciampa.
Immediately following the match, Punk put Page in his place, laying out the now former champion with a GTS as confetti rained down from the arena to celebrate Williams reascending the throne as top dog in NXT.
