The OC claim they pitched a match with the Rock N’ Roll Express at WWE Starrcade 2017. While the match was promoted on WWE.com, it never took place.
During the latest edition of his “Talk N’ Shop” podcast, Luke Gallows revealed that the WWE medical team didn’t think the Rock N’ Roll Express could be cleared for the match. He said,
“We know what happened. It’s no secret, it’s not bad on anybody, it was the fact that we pitched it. We pitched it, not hard, but we pitched it hard. Then, Ricky Morton heard about it and he was all for it. He was talking about it online and stuff.”
He continued, “I think, internally, their worry was — you have to give WWE all the credit in the world for this — the medical staff and safety of everybody, they didn’t see how they would be able to pass the medical testing to do one night with us. We thought it would be really fun. We ended up having a fun Starrcade match. We sent it to Michael (Hayes) a couple of times. We didn’t completely shut us down on it. We were like, ‘Can we do it or not?’ They were like, ‘We would love for you to do it, but….’”
NBA star Tyrese Haliburton wasn’t surprised that he got booed when he made an appearance for WWE NXT in Orlando, FL. Despite this, he says Shawn Michaels didn’t expect it.
While appearing on a recent edition of “The Pat McAfee Show,” Haliburton commented on attempting to be the good guy. He said,
“I was supposed to go there to be a face, a good guy. I told Shawn Michaels before, ‘Hey, I think I’m going to get booed out here.’ He said, ‘I don’t think so. Our fans are great. They’ll love you.’ I was like, ‘Ha, okay.’ As soon as I walked out there, before the camera turned on, ‘Booo.’ I’m hearing chants about the Knicks. All these things. I can’t be on TV and essentially look like a bitch and not respond back. I don’t have any other jabs for Orlando, it’s a great place. Disney, it’s a good place.”
He continued, “I had to say something about the Magic historically. Good team over there now. Nothing bad to say about them. I’m not going to take it back. I had to say something and stand my ground. I guess I’m a heel in the wrestling world. We’re going to embrace that.”
