Vince McMahon hopes to avoid any comparisons to Harvey Weinstein which may explain his conduct regarding the ongoing Janel Grant lawsuit.
In a recent motion, McMahon’s legal team made a series of disparaging remarks against Miss Grant that she has motioned to be struck from the record.
McMahon’s attorneys have argued that the comments about her provide context and have said Grant wanting these comments struck is the “height of hypocrisy.”
On today’s edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer discussed McMahon’s strategy. He said,
“He wants to not have this name, he doesn’t want to be Harvey Weinstein. The only way he can do that is to basically make it look like and portray it as this crazy, lying woman. ‘I absolutely had an affair with her, but all that stuff that she said, every single bit of it, is not true.'”
AEW President Tony Khan recently compared WWE to the disgraced film producer in a moment that also saw Khan describe AEW as the Pepsi of pro wrestling.
That comment by Khan received backlash from within his company, with many feeling it was tasteless and tarred the whole WWE and its staff with a brush because of one man.
Khan would later justify the comment by highlighting the importance of saying AEW is the best.
