Vince McMahon’s lawyer has issued a statement addressing Janel Grant’s request for a status conference in their lawsuit, with a response officially submitted.
As we’ve been reporting here on eWn, Grant’s legal representatives sought the status conference in the lawsuit “to inform the Court of the new status quo and request its guidance on how best to move this litigation forward” after McMahon settled SEC charges concerning undisclosed payments tied to sexual assault allegations.
The former WWE Chairman did not admit to the SEC’s findings but agreed to a $400,000 civil penalty and a $1.33 million reimbursement to WWE.
McMahon’s legal representatives filed a response on Monday morning countering the status conference and asked the Court to “grant the pending motion to compel arbitration… or, alternatively, to order Plaintiff to respond to the Motion no later than January 20, 2025. Defendant McMahon further moves the Court for such other and further relief as the Court may deem just and proper.”
The official statement from McMahon’s attorney, Jessica T. Rosenberg, reads as follows:
“The recent federal investigation resulted in no criminal indictments from the SDNY, while the SEC settlement relates to minor accounting issues at WWE that have nothing to do with this case. Any claims to the contrary made by Janel Grant’s team are just another desperate PR stunt.”
