Vince McMahon’s Lawyer Responds To Ring Boy Lawsuit

The attorney for Vince McMahon has spoken out against the latest lawsuit filed at the ex-WWE Chairman over the infamous 1990s Ring Boy scandal.

As we previously reported here on eWn, the suit alleges that McMahon and his wife Linda knew of the sexual abuse of minors but did nothing to prevent it.

In a statement, McMahon’s attorney Jessica Rosenburg had the following to say:

“More than 30 years ago, the columnist Phil Mushnick tried to make headlines with these same false claims. Those allegations were never proven and ultimately became the subject of a defamation lawsuit against Mr. Mushnick. The negligence claims against Mr. McMahon that were asserted today rely on these same absurd, defamatory and utterly meritless statements by Mr. Mushnick. We will vigorously defend Mr. McMahon and are confident the court will find that these claims are untrue and unfounded.”

The Ring Boy scandal resulted in Mel Phillips, Terry Garvin, and Pat Patterson being fired from WWE, although Patterson was later rehired.

The WWF hired boys to perform tasks at their events. The suit alleges that Philips transported the boys to various locations to abuse the minors.

The suit adds that the plaintiffs now feel able to bring this case forward following McMahon’s exit from WWE due to Janel Grant’s lawsuit.
