This year, WWE will induct its first ever ‘Immortal Moment’ into the Hall of Fame, namely Bret Hart vs. Steve Austin at WrestleMania 13 in 1997.
On a recent edition of his “BroDown” podcast, Vince Russo questioned the idea and what will count as a worthy inductee. He said,
“I don’t understand the logic behind the moments… I’m just curious. Are they going to be any entertainment moments? Is Steve Austin driving a beer truck into the arena? Is that a moment? Or does the moment have to be a match?”
Russo also suggested that the idea of inducting matches and moments from history may be down to WWE seeking another revenue outlet. He said,
“Why is this? Because they’ll get somebody to sponsor it and they’ll make another payday on? ‘Hey, you want to sponsor the match of the year that’s going into the Hall of Fame?’ Boom.”
The induction will make Hart the first-ever three-time inductee after being inducted in 2006 and as part of the Hart Foundation in 2019.
This year’s ceremony will also see Triple H, Michelle McCool, Lex Luger, and the Natural Disasters be inducted into the Hall of Fame.
