Vince Russo saw Randy Savage be a “psychopathic, jealous, lunatic” during their time working together in WCW during the Attitude Era.
Over the years, Savage garnered a reputation as being very controlling of his manager and real-life partner Miss Elizabeth with several wrestlers speaking about their relationship.
On a recent edition of his “Writing With Russo” podcast, Vince Russo discussed Savage’s reputation. He said,
“You know bro, we didn’t have social media back then. But you knew, you always somehow… you heard how Savage was always jealous in real life. There was reality. There was definitely a reality that this guy was a psychopathic, jealous, lunatic. There was [a] reality to that, you know.”
Savage and Elizabeth married in 1984 but their on-screen wedding would not come until SummerSlam 1991. The couple divorced in 1992.
Elizabeth died in May 2003 of a drug overdose. Savage would pass away eight years later in May 2011 of a heart attack.
