Former WWE writer Vince Russo believes that WWE is wasting its time catering to its already faithful audience instead of trying to woo new fans.

In this ‘new era’ of WWE, the company has certainly been appealing to hardcore fans with Superstars popular amongst this group such as Sami Zayn and Chad Gable being pushed.

On a recent edition of his “Writing With Russo” podcast, the former WWE writer argued that WWE is focusing on the wrong kind of fans. He said,

“[Hardcore fans already support WWE] because they love it so much and it is such a big part of their lives. They want to support it. Whether it’s cash, whether is buying a ticket, whatever it is. And it just so weird because like you said, the WWE does not need to cater to those people. They are supporting it because they want to. So take their money, let them support you, but I don’t know why you would cater to that fanbase.”

WWE’s next major event will be tonight’s NXT Battleground pay-per-view event with WWE Clash At The Castle: Scotland scheduled to take place next Saturday.
