On last Tuesday’s episode of WWE NXT, Lexis King approached Charlie Dempsey with a request for a shot at the NXT Heritage Cup, as he feels like that will help gain him some respect on the roster. Dempsey surprisingly accepted the challenge with no hesitation, but as easy as it was to get granted the title opportunity, it hasn’t been easy for King to find himself a corner man.
Over the course of the episode, King lamented that everyone he asks says no, and even tried to ask Ava to appoint someone to be in his corner and force them into the position. She declined, and he remained on the lookout for some help.
Well, it seems like he has it now, in the most unlikely of people, as during NXT Halloween Havoc, King was interviewed by Sarah Schreiber about his upcoming match, and they were interrupted by William Regal, who offered his services to be King’s corner man.
Regal put him over by saying that he appreciates how King is trying to be different from his father, and said that there will be a time to thank him, implying that he’ll be instrumental in helping King win that cup. Or perhaps, based on Regal’s dastardly deeds in the past, and the fact that it is still his son, Charlie Dempsey, who is holding the championship, this could be a ruse set up by Regal to ensure Dempsey remains champion.
