After the announcement of the WWE Women’s United States Championship, it was a foregone conclusion WWE would announce an equivalent midcard women’s title for the Monday Night Raw roster.
Strangely, they didn’t announce anything for several weeks, and the tournament to crown the Women’s United States Championship has already seen several Superstars move on to the second round.
Thankfully, we do now finally have confirmation of the Women’s Intercontinental Championship, but out of all the places for it to be announced, it was strangely unveiled prior to WWE Raw just after the tapings for WWE Main Event (results here)
Adam Pearce presented the championship and spoke about how this will be a workhorse title for the women’s division and unveiled the belt, which is naturally a white-strapped version of the men’s Intercontinental Championship.
