As we previously reported here on eWn, WWE producer Lee Fitting was reportedly fired from ESPN due to allegations of misconduct involving women.
At the time, a WWE spokesperson stated that the company had no comment.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, an insider within WWE noted that some of Fitting’s issues were known publicly, yet the company chose to hire him regardless.
The source remarked, “This is the baggage (the publicity) that comes with the hire.”
Another person stated that Fitting’s situation is similar to that of Vince McMahon or John Laurinaitis.
Fitting’s contributions to WWE have received high praise, and there is no indication that the company perceives this as more than a fleeting story.
This is not the first time WWE has hired someone despite knowing about existing allegations. Former Executive Vice President of Development and Digital Jamie Horowitz was brought on board even after being fired by FOX Sports following a sexual harassment probe.
Horowitz was eventually dismissed in 2023 after the UFC-WWE merger.
