CM Punk, who unceremoniously left WWE after the 2014 Royal Rumble and pledged never to come back, shocked the wrestling world by returning to the company at Survivor Series: WarGames 2023.
Things have changed for Punk, as the internal response to his ongoing tenure in WWE has come to light.
Fightful Select shed light on a potential new contract for Punk, clarifying that his existing deal is still less than a year old.
According to the report, Punk and WWE had conversations some time ago regarding a more expansive contract, as the situation had evolved since his return last year.
WWE reportedly has been quite satisfied with Punk’s performance since his return, and matters have progressed smoothly.
The report states, “Well his current deal isn’t even a year old. I’d heard that the two sides were engaged in talks a while back for something more expansive as things had changed since they abruptly put a deal together. So far, WWE has been very happy with Punk back in the company, and everything has gone really well so far.”
As we previously reported here on eWn, Punk is currently on hiatus from WWE TV following his Hell In A Cell match against Drew McIntyre at Bad Blood 2024.
However, fans can expect him to return in time for Survivor Series: WarGames 2024, as WWE is reportedly planning a huge match between Punk and GUNTHER for the November 30th pay-per-view event.
