Week 1 of WWE NXT: Great American Bash is shaping up to be a packed ordeal with three titles on the line.
As previously established, Roxanne Perez will defend her NXT Women’s Championship against Thea Hail, who had a sit-down interview this week to talk about her underdog status and her drive to become champion.
Added onto the card, though, are two other title matches announced on the July 23rd edition of NXT.
After defeating Karmen Petrovic and Sol Ruca, Meta-Four’s Lash Legend and Jakara Jackson put out a challenge to Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn for a tag title shot. The Unholy Union responded on Twitter to accept, setting up a WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship match for next week.
On top of that, in a backstage segment where The D’Angelo Family were chatting with No Quarter Catch Crew, Tony D’Angelo decided he wanted to give Tavion Heights a shot at the NXT Heritage Cup to help commemorate the Olympics, given how Heights represented the United States in the 2020 Olympics in Men’s Greco-Roman competition.
All that, coupled with the announcement of a Joe Hendry live in-ring concert, puts WWE NXT: Great American Bash in a solid spot to try to offset ratings issues, given how it will air on SyFy, rather than its usual USA Network slot.
As a reminder, here is the current lineup for next week’s episode of NXT:
- NXT Women’s Championship Match: Roxanne Perez vs Thea Hail
- NXT Heritage Cup Match: Tony D’Angelo vs. Tavion Heights
- WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship Match: The Unholy Union (Alba Fyre & Isla Dawn) vs. Meta-Four (Jakara Jackson & Lash Legend)
- Joe Hendry live in concert
- Contract signing between Ethan Page and Oro Mensah, who will fight in an NXT Championship match on NXT Great American Bash Week 2
