The Young Bucks recently appeared on Wrestling Observer Radio, here are the highlights…

On thinking Bullet Club offer was a rib: “Matt and I for some reason, in our heads, we were thinking, ‘Ok, that’s the next step, to somehow get to New Japan.’ So, that was the goal in mind. We wanted to get there, we just didn’t know how. We didn’t even try, we didn’t contact anyone. “But, out of the blue, Okada messaged me and he’s like, ‘Hey, Tiger Hattori is trying to get a hold of you guys. They need a tag team and I put your guys’ names out there. Let me know if you guys are interested.’ Matt and I were like, ‘Of course we’re interested! That’s what we wanted!’ It was literally out of the blue. “And Tiger Hattori voxered Matt, which Matt thought was a rib at the time because Tiger Hattori has a voxer account for some reason. He voxed Matt, saying, ‘Hey, Matt. Would you guys be interested in joining Bullet Club?’ And we’re like, ‘Of course we would!’ So that’s how it all came about pretty much.”

On Marty Scurll joining the Bullet Club: “One day, we’re hanging out with Marty, and he has a real serious look on his face. And he pulled us aside, and is like, ‘Guys. I just got word from New Japan that I’m in the Best of Super Juniors, and they want me in Bullet Club.’ And we’re like, ‘No way, bro! That’s great!’ “We had no idea [he was joining]. We think that maybe it was kind of in people’s heads because for weeks and weeks and weeks we were with Marty all the time. So, maybe someone thought they should be a team because they’ve got good chemistry. But, I’m not sure how that happened. But, basically, he comes up and says, yeah I’m joining Bullet Club, we said wow, that’s perfect, and he says, ‘Here’s the problem. They want me to just tweet out that I’m joining.’ And we’re like, ‘You can’t just tweet out that you’re joining Bullet Club! That’s a huge lost opportunity, especially with this buildup on our show.’ So, he said that he talked to the office at ROH, and the first thing they said was, ‘Call the Bucks.’ So, he comes up to us and he says, ‘I was sent to talk to you guys about coming up with an angle.’ And, we grabbed Kenny and smartened him up about everything, and the four of us literally mapped out every single thing you saw at that pay-per-view. 100 percent of what you saw, we did it right there, and we were so committed to this being the thing that we would do that we shot Kenny’s promo at the hotel room, we shot all this footage that we ended up releasing on our show. We did all of this without knowing that [ROH] were going to okay it. We stayed up until like 5am, I remember. “So, when I wrote the big email to the ROH office to the creative team, I didn’t miss a beat. Like, I had the entire timeline, I had the promos all ready, and they basically couldn’t say no, because it was so well done I thought. And, of course, they were like, ‘This is perfect.’”
