Paris previously wrestled under the name Zema Ion. He wrestled for independent promotions from 2004 til he was signed by TNA in 2011. He is a former X-Division Champion, and also won the TNA X-Division Tournament in 2012. He changed his ring name to DJ Z in 2014 and aligned himself with The Bromans, Robbie E and Jessie Godderz.
He has worked for various other promotions, such as Major League Wrestling, Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide and DDT Pro-Wrestling. In 2019, he started working for WWE in their NXT brand as Joaquin Wilde and joined Santos Escobar’s Legado Del Fantasma stable. The group was later taken over and absorbed into Tony D’Angelo’s family.
