AEW Dynamite Results (3/6/2024)
Swerve Strickland makes his way to the ring to talk to Tony Schiavone. He is disappointed because he did not get the job done at Revolution. Samoa Joe did. Two years ago, he said he would come in and win championships, but here he stands with no gold. Swerve wonders if it is karma for all the bad stuff he has done. Maybe he’s not supposed to be a champion here? Perhaps he has to be a role player and settle for this. Something about Sunday felt different. It felt like people really wanted him to win and make history.
Nothing changes from this point on. He doesn’t know when, or how, but he promises he is coming for Samoa Joe and the AEW World Championship. Whose house? Swerve’s house. Samoa Joe’s music plays. He enters the ring and is handed a microphone. Swerve is sure talking funny for someone who will never keep his promises. Unfortunately, his house exists in his world. He thought he would come out here, and instead of looking at an almost World Champion, they can look at a real World Champion.
Strickland says he is talking spicy for someone who he hasn’t beat. Undisputed Kingdom interrupts the tension. Adam Cole has a story for everyone. The only story worth talking about is Undisputed Kingdom. Just like they said, Roderick Strong is the new International Champion. Mike Bennett & Matt Taven are still the ROH Tag Team Champions.
The only reason Samoa Joe is World Champion is because they let it happen. Six months from now, nobody will give a damn about Swerve Strickland. But someone they will talk about is Wardlow. Very soon, he will challenge and win the AEW World Championship, bringing it to the rightful place. Swerve compares Cole to Dr. Claw from Inspector Gadget, and also says he has Britt Baker’s second number in his pocket. A match is made between The Undisputed Kingdom, Samoa Joe, and Swerve Strickland, and it is happening right now.
#1. Samoa Joe & Swerve Strickland (w/ Prince Nana) vs. Undisputed Kingdom’s Mike Bennett & Matt Taven (w/ Wardlow & Adam Cole) – Winners: Joe & Strickland
While Strickland was distracted by Wardlow, Samoa Joe locked in a submission and put him to sleep.
Backstage, Chris Jericho gives Hook a little pep talk before his title match.
#2. [FTW Championship] Hook (c) vs. Brian Cage – Winner: Hook via technical submission
The Gates Of Agony show up to beat down on Hook, that is until Chris Jericho evens the odds with his baseball bat.
Best Friends can’t enter the tag team tournament because of Chuck Taylor’s ankle injury, but that doesn’t stop Trent Beretta and Orange Cassidy from teaming up. They have their first match on Rampage.
#3. Killswitch vs. “Daddy Magic” Matt Menard – Winner: Killswitch
Daniel Garcia comes to save his friend. Christian Cage sends his adopted son Nick Wayne to help Killswitch, and they take both Garcia & Menard out. As The Patriarchy head to the back, Adam Copeland appears with a steel chair. He takes out Killswitch & Nick Wayne, before chasing Christian Cage backstage. The TNT Champion steals a car to get away from Copeland. Adam looks at the camera and challenges Christian to an I Quit match for the TNT title in Toronto.
Kyle O’Reilly is happy to be wrestling again, because he thought it might not happen. Now he has another chance, he is going to make the most of it.
The Young Bucks make their way to the ring to give their announcement. Nicholas says that Sting & Darby Allin cheated. And no matter what happened, they ended Sting’s career forever. They are officially entering themselves in to the tag team title tournament. Matt Jackson tells Hangman Page that he is suspended indefinitely from The Elite for putting his hands on two officials at Revolution. They fire Kenny Omega from The Elite for not fulfilling his obligations for no good reason.
Eddie Kingston interrupts their segment. He tells them to fine him right now because he has a lot to say. Young Bucks attack Kingston after he refused to show respect. Kazuchika Okada is here! The Rainmaker stands by Kingston. But wait… Okada hits Kingston with The Rainmaker! The Young Bucks officially introduce Kazuchika Okada as part of The Elite!
#4. Kris Statlander (w/ Stokely Hathaway) vs. Riho – Winner: Riho
Toni Storm announces the first “Toni Awards” will be given on this week’s Collision.
Darby Allin says it won’t be easy to continue without Sting. He said he would do anything it takes to give the end of his career all the respect it deserves. Next week at Big Business he has Jay White, and then he is scheduled to climb Mount Everest. There is no guarantee he will come back alive. He wants to thank everyone and AEW for giving him this dream. Darby congratulates the next team who wins the tag team titles.
Jay White talks to Darby Allin. He doesn’t care about Sting, or what happened. All he knows is that Darby is a lost puppy without Sting. He doesn’t have to get in the ring with him. Nobody would think any less of him after what he has been through. Darby says Jay won titles around the world, and main evented the Tokyo Dome twice. But what has he done since getting to AEW? Nothing. He doesn’t get the hype. He’ll see White at Big Business.
Mark Briscoe wants an Atlanta Street Fight this Saturday with House Of Black. Jay Lethal wants to join him on the battlefield. And he will bring Jeff Jarrett, but Mark doesn’t need to trust him. Jay asks Mark to trust him.
#5. Kyle Fletcher vs. Will Ospreay – Winner: Will Ospreay
Bryan Danielson enters and there is a brief stare down between him and Ospreay before the show ends.
