AEW Dynamite Results (8/28/2024)

Jon Moxley returns to AEW. Tony Schiavone gets a word with him. He says there are a few things that need to get done. He came looking for a man who is not here. Moxley says it is about time that he and Darby Allin had a talk. He won’t be hard to find. Before he leaves, Moxley tells Tony Schiavone that this isn’t his company anymore.

#1. Tomohiro Ishii vs. Hangman Page – Winner: Hangman Page

Swerve Strickland shows up to confront Page. He is still a World Champion, so he failed. Page says he is not a champion and is a piece of s***. He could never beat him on his own. After 3 matches, he could never beat him, so he is not as good. Page wants to leave them out and have it between them only. Strickland suggests a steel cage match at All Out. What kind of man is he going to be in that cage? What kind of man is he going to be for his kids? Page walks away.

#2. Jamie Hayter vs. Harley Cameron (w/ Saraya) – Winner: Jamie Hayter

MJF is up next. He says he is in tremendous pain right now, and has a major headache, so if they don’t shut up, he will jump the guardrail and beat the hell out of everyone in this arena. After what happened at Wembley, he has lost his ring, his title, and has two herniated discs in his spine. When he was defending this country, where were they to have his back? He is to renounce his American citizenship. The only place that matters is Long Island, New York. After everything he has done for this sport, he is sick of the fans living in lies. This company without MJF is a circus.

And speaking of circus acts, Will Ospreay better keep his head on a swivel. Just as he is about to etch his name in the history books, he will cut him out at the knees with a smile on his face. He calls Daniel Garcia a bum, and if he ever sees him again… Daniel Garcia blindsides him and locks in a guillotine choke. Garcia goes to drop MJF on his head with an Avalanche Piledriver from the top, but security arrives in time to stop it. Garcia takes out the security and then defends himself against MJF.

He tries to execute the piledriver again, but Christopher Daniels and more security show up. This time, they succeed in keeping them apart. Garcia grabs a microphone and tells him that he has his Diamond Ring. Ruining his life is all he thinks about. He talked to Tony Khan, and they will face each other at All Out. He won’t be fulfilled until he breaks MJF’s neck.

#3. Hook, Orange Cassidy, Kyle O’Reilly & Mark Briscoe vs. Chris Jericho, Big Bill, Bryan Keith & Roderick Strong – Winners: Hook, Cassidy, Reilly & Briscoe

Mariah May gets a word with Tony Schiavone. She regrets to inform us that her championship celebration has been postponed. She is not doing it in this town. May insults the crowd, before saying we need more glamour. This is your new AEW World Women’s Champion.

Grizzled Young Veterans let the Young Bucks know that they sent a message, not only to FTR and The Acclaimed, but to them and the entire tag team division. Grit. Your. Teeth.

#4. Ricochet vs. Kyle Fletcher – Winner: Ricochet

Will Ospreay makes his entrance, but just before he can say anything, Pac surprises him with a Poisonrana on the hard floor. Pac welcomes Ricochet to AEW, but he needs to get to the back of the line. Ospreay belongs to him.

Backstage, Jon Moxley and Marina Shafir beat up some security guards.

Bryan Danielson ends the show with the AEW World Championship in the ring. After so much trying and failing, he is the new AEW World Champion. And he did it in front of 50,000 at Wembley, and his family. When he got to the back, his daughter said this was the best day she has ever had. And after talking to his peers, he knew it was the best moment of his entire career. But when he got to the press conference at the end of the show, he got asked what was next.

His contract expired on August 1st. He needs neck surgery pretty soon, and his family wants him to come home. When he got to AEW, he thanked those who started this place. The fact that AEW exists makes pro wrestling better, and his life better. When he thinks of all the things that they did, and when he got to the back, and when he thinks about those who will wrestle in the future, it was probably time for him to go home. But not yet! He will not retire as the AEW Champion. He will fight as much as he can. As soon as he loses it, his full-time career is over.

But before then, he has a lot of heads to kick in. At All Out, they have a young, hungry locker room. Anybody who wants a shot, come get it. First come, first serve. He is here to be the best AEW World Champion of all time. Jack Perry answers him on the titantron. His future is to retire Bryan Danielson and become the World Champion. His future is behind him. Perry blindsides him. After taking out Danielson, Perry holds up the AEW World and TNT Championships.
