- Claudio Castagnoli defeated Buddy Matthews by submission.

- Texas Death Match: Swerve Strickland defeated “Hangman” Adam Page
- The Golden Jets (Chris Jericho and Kenny Omega) defeated The Young Bucks (Matt Jackson and Nick Jackson) by pinfall.
- AEW World Championship Match: MJF (c) defeated Jay White by pinfall.
Author’s POV, Running Commentary & Thoughts:
Zero Hour
- The first half hour is a breakdown of the card with Stokely Hathaway, Renee Paquette, and RJ City. No news broken.
- The first match of the night is Kingston against Lethal for the ROH world title.
- Standard match affair. Eventually, Ortiz showed up to take Jeff Jarrett’s guitar and blast Sonjay Dutt in the head with it. Kingston retains by pinfall.
- After the match, Kingston called Stokely a bald-headed bitch and threatened to punch him just to make himself laugh.
- Next up is Claudio against Matthews. Solid match. Castagnoli wins by submission with a sharpshooter.
- After the match, Castagnoli offered a handshake, but Matthews shrugged him off. For some reason, Claudio then did John Cena’s “you can’t see me” taunt.
- Last up on the Zero Hour is the ROH world tag title match. Samoa Joe is MJF’s partner and The Gunns are coming out in some old school white Shawn Michaels style gear.
- Adam Cole is out here toward the end of the match, hobbling down the ramp on crutches. That’s enough of a distraction where Samoa Joe could lock in a Coquina Clutch to score the victory.
- MJF and Joe shook hands after the match, setting up a title match down the line.
- After Joe left, The Gunns attacked MJF, working on his leg with a steel chair.
- MJF is stretchered out, setting up a tough situation for him for later on. He begs Cole to not let them take his title.
Trios Match: Sting, Darby Allin and Adam Copeland vs. Christian Cage, Luchasaurus and Nick Wayne
- There’s a choir singing Christian Cage’s theme for their entrance.
- Ken Jeong is in the crowd, booing Cage.
- I dig the face paint on Adam Copeland to really drive home that trio as a team. Very cool.
- When Cage and Copeland are in the ring ready to face off, the crowd’s pumped, only for Cage to step aside and Luchasaurus to take his place against The Rated-R Superstar.
- OUCH. Luchasaurus chokeslammed Darby Allin to the outside onto the ring apron. That looked gnarly.
- Flair gets involved in the match and takes a low blow from Cage for his efforts. Cage actually runs off through the crowd to avoid Copeland, who eventually pins Luchasaurus after a Coffin Drop from Allin. Thumbs up for an opener given some of the things they were working with here.
Tony Schiavone got an update from the back and is standing on the stage with referee Bryce Remsburg to call out Bullet Club Gold. Jay White is the only one that came out, mad that The Gunns’ music was playing instead. Schiavone says MJF is injured and the match has been cancelled. By default, your new AEW world champion…but Adam Cole interrupts. He’s talked to Tony Khan and if MJF cannot defend the title, he’ll do it for him, one-legged or not, and replace him in the main event.
AEW International Championship Match: Orange Cassidy (c) vs. Jon Moxley
- As expected, this has been a very physical match.
- Also to be expected, Moxley is bloodied up. That goes without being said about almost all of his matches.
- That even reaches a point where he’s acting like he doesn’t know where he’s at with the bloody dripping to his eyes. Mox still fires up after a series of Orange Punches.
- After I believe 7 of them (might have been 6 or 8, I lost count) and a Beach Break, Cassidy retains.
- I’m totally down to see a third match between these two. Rubber match for Worlds End with a no-DQ gimmick?
It is now official that Adam Cole will be in MJF’s place in the main event world title match against Jay White later tonight.
Mark Briscoe is announced for the Continental Classic tournament.
AEW Women’s World Championship Match: Hikaru Shida (c) vs. Toni Storm
- Time for a title change, right? Get yourselves prepared. I’m fully expecting Storm to take the belt here.
- Storm is able to ruse referee Aubrey Edwards with a shoe, only to have a backup one to strike Shida with. She only gets a two-count, though.
- I appreciate the pun that Toni Storm is going “off-script” by using an ankle lock on Shida’s buckled ankle.
- Storm takes Shida’s shoe off to hit her, but Shida blocks it. Shida almost hit Storm with her kendo stick, but Luther grabbed it—so he naturally got whooped by Shida in response.
- In the meantime, Storm put something in her tights while Edwards was distracted. There was a wardrobe malfunction that was blatantly obvious and Edwards was supposed to just ignore that there was a metal tray on Storm’s right butt cheek, which was falling down. Nevertheless, Storm uses that in a strike to the face.
- Mariah May came out to give Storm flowers after the match.
Backstage, Eddie Kingston tells Renee Paquette that he wants to put both the ROH World Championship and the New Japan Strong Openweight Championship on the line in every match in the tournament so the winner will be a Triple Crown champion, as he refers to it, winning also the “Continental Championship”.
Four-Way Ladder Match for the AEW World Tag Team Championship: Big Bill and Ricky Starks (c) vs. La Faccion Ingobernable (Dralistico and Rush) vs. FTR (Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood) vs. House of Black’s Kings of the Black Throne (Malakai Black and Brody King)
- If I’m reading the crowd correctly, it seems like the audience is rooting most for FTR, then LFI, then House of Black, then Starks and Bill. Most of the reaction is just “yay, cool move” no matter who is doing it, though.
- Case in point, when Malakai Black does a moonsault to a few guys on the outside, or when Harwood superplexes Starks onto everyone.
- “Meat” chant breaks out for Bill vs Brody. They both eventually get sandwiched between ladders from Harwood and Rush. Dax gets the better of all that and does the spot of spinning around with the ladder on his head.
- There’s a cool spot where Wheeler runs toward Black, who bounces a ladder off the ropes to slingshot it right into Cash.
- Boos for Wheeler low-blowing Black. Woahs for following that up with a piledriver from the turnbuckle onto a ladder.
- Different spots back and forth. None that particularly stood out. Then, a series of people spilling to the outside quick enough that almost everyone is sprawled out on the floor.
- Starks pulls the belts down to retain. Lots of fun.
Three-Way Match for the AEW TBS Championship: Kris Statlander (c) vs. Julia Hart vs. Skye Blue
- Skye Blue stomped on her baseball cap and put a crown on during her entrance.
- She and Hart shared a temporary left-handed shake that Hart pulled her into. No real alliance going on in this match.
- Statlander is definitely the powerhouse of the match, booked in that way against the other two.
- All three have their moments on top and a few near-falls. The crowd seems cool with all three.
- Code Blue being one of those. Nice transition into that, even if it was a two-count.
- Statlander hits Saturday Night Fever on Blue. Hart clotheslines Stat and covers Blue for herself, capturing the win and the title!
The big contract signing is…….Will Ospreay. He asks the crowd to be patient to allow him to finish up in New Japan before he goes on the road to Revolution. In the meantime, Tony Khan should line up all the best AEW has to offer, and he’ll eventually show them what elite really is, especially when it comes to All In 2024 in Wembley.
Texas Death Match: “Hangman” Adam Page vs. Swerve Strickland
- Ouuuuch Hangman staples a fingerpainting onto Swerve’s face. Two staples, make that. Then, he rips it off and….gets underneath Swerve so that Strickland’s blood will drip into his mouth. WTF?
- Lots more staples to Swerve, who is bleeding profusely, but he’s no-selling the staples. He even staples himself a few times just for the sake of it, while smiling. Absolute nope from me. “You sick fuck” chant from the crowd.
- Swerve pulls out a cinderblock. That’s used for a Death Valley Driver onto Hangman, on the apron. OUCH again.
- You can’t have a match like this without someone being wrapped up in barbed wire. Sucks for Swerve that it’s him. He also gets tossed into a fallaway slam with that on.
- Page moonsaults onto Swerve to the outside, while holding a barbed wire wrapped chair.
- Swerve is taking the brunt of so much of this, including a tombstone onto that bared wire chair.
- Aaaaah, Swerve hits Page with that chair and the barbed wire got caught on Hangman’s neck and tangled in his hair for a second.
- Swerve pulls out a bag of tacks. No, it’s glass. He jumps on top of Page, which does no favors to either of them. That’s still not the end of the match.
- A barbed wire table gets some play, including a Deadeye. That’s STILL not enough to end this match. “Fight forever” chant breaks out.
- Buckshot barbed wire lariat almost does the trick, but Prince Nana pulls Swerve out, so he technically falls to his feet. Brian Cage then comes out and attacks Page.
- Page starts fighting back with a hand wrapped in barbed wire, though.
- Time for Prince Nana to strike Page with a chair, but Hangman no-sells it. Nana gets Deadeye’d off the ring apron through a table for his efforts.
- Swerve breaks the cinderblock over Page’s back of the head. Page starts getting up, so Swerve wraps a chain around his neck, then wraps that around the ring post to hang Hangman.
- That’s finally it. Swerve wins. Yikes, that was a brutal match. I loved it.
The Golden Jets (Chris Jericho and Kenny Omega) vs. The Young Bucks (Matt Jackson and Nick Jackson)
- Don Callis is on commentary.
- Bucks are definitely playing heel. Commentary calls attention to it being strange they’re being booed in California.
- General back and forth action. Nothing stands out too much.
- Young Bucks go even more in the heel direction with a low blow behind the referee’s back.
- Omega teases that he’ll give a V-Trigger to Jericho, but follows through with going after Nick and Matt Jackson instead. No heel turn.
- Omega kicks out of Matt Jackson’s attempt at giving him a One-Winged Angel just to spite him with his own maneuver.
- Eventually, Omega hits a One-Winged Angel of his own for the victory. As per the stipulation, that means The Golden Jets get the tag title shot that The Young Bucks had previously won.
- The Young Bucks pitch a fit ringside, throwing stuff around, full tantrum.
AEW World Championship Match: MJF (c) vs. Jay White
- As the match is about to start, MJF drives back in the ambulance, hobbling on one leg. He comes out, collapsing on the entrance ramp while personnel are trying to stop him. MJF decides to wrestle the match, so we’re once again back to Cole just being ringside, rather than competing.
- I’m fully convinced Cole has a STRONG chance to screw MJF here…even though I’m not entirely sold on the belt changing hands, by any means. It’s just suspicious that The Gunns were ejected from ringside, while Cole hasn’t been.
- Somehow, MJF is wrestling more than a 2 second match. That suspension of disbelief is a lower point of an otherwise great show.
- Another lower point is Jay White just collapsing through the commentary table when being placed on it, so MJF did an elbow drop to an already wrecked spot with White on the ground. Obviously, that doesn’t have the same impact.
- Cole almost throws in the towel when MJF is locked in a submission, but MJF finds a way out of it.
- Another tense moment happens when Cole’s ROH tag title is grabbed by White, who nails MJF with it, but MJF kicks out.
- Ref bump! Friedman asks Cole for the Dynamite Diamond Ring, but White is able to get it instead.
- MJF is able to deliver a low-blow first, though, and steal back the ring. He uses it on The Gunns, who ran back into the ring.
- MJF nails White with the a punch while having the ring on and retains his title by pinfall.
