WWE RAW (5/5/2025)
We open with the World Heavyweight Champion, Jey Uso. He knows Logan Paul is in the house, so where is he at? The voice of Paul Heyman interrupts Jey, who tells him he has some balls to step in to this ring after betraying his family, which Heyman finds hypocritical. Jey tried to warn Reigns and Punk about him, but they didn’t listen.
Heyman thinks he should have been warned about them. His “best friend” put him in an impossible situation where he had to upset his Tribal Chief. Speaking of him, Paul had a dream of going to the main event of WrestleMania with CM Punk long before Reigns thought about wrestling. What did he think was going to happen? That he was going to spill all of his secrets to Punk? He spent 5 years of his life building him and The Bloodline. What did he do after losing the title? He left him alone with the wild characters of The New Bloodline. And when Reigns returned, he didn’t return to avenge Heyman after he was attacked, but to reclaim his ula fala.
Paul Heyman goes absolutely ballistic at Jey for insinuating that he was the one in the wrong. He was in the right this time, and screw every single fan for thinking otherwise. After a long, passionate rant, Jey Uso asks Heyman what this has to do with him. Paul apologizes for going off the subject. He was meant to talk to Jey about the World Heavyweight Championship. It’s all about power, and Jey doesn’t know how to wield power.
While in his heart, he wants to be champion, Seth Rollins HAS to have that power and control. And as for Bron Breakker, that was stage 1 of their plan. The title is stage 2. He will allow Jey Uso to choose the night when he loses the World Heavyweight Championship. Seth Rollins hereby challenges him for the title. He will fight him anywhere and any place. Jey Uso gets in Heyman’s face to tell him if that’s how it is, we will have that match tonight!
#1. Penta vs. JD McDonagh (w/ Judgment Day) – Winner: Penta
Austin Theory has an opponent tonight, but Grayson Waller is keeping it a surprise.
#2. Austin Theory vs. Sheamus – Winner: Sheamus
New Day and Chad Gable talk about some of their rivals and how American Made should be getting more opportunities. Becky Lynch pops in for no reason, so Xavier Woods tells her he’s sorry for what happened with Lyra Valkyria. The Man gives a nod and carries on her way to the ring.
Becky Lynch is in the ring and tells everyone she’s the victim here. She goes on and on about taking out the garbage (Bayley) and recycling (Valkyria). And despite doing so, she gets all this disrespect… Lyra Valkyria interrupts her. Becky didn’t make her. While she was on holiday, she has been working hard and achieving. She is grateful for what Lynch has done for women’s wrestling, but she had no intention of taking anyone to the top with her.
Becky says everyone had their best year, but that’s only because she wasn’t around. And it isn’t her job to help everybody, she is here to beat everybody. It doesn’t matter how good Valkyria thinks she is, she will only ever be the moment after the moment. Lyra lists off more of Becky’s achievements before rubbing it in her face that she is the first IC Champion. For as long as she’s here, Becky will be the second place. A fight breaks out and spills to the outside. They get back in the ring shortly after, and this ends with Valkyria hitting Nightwing.
During the break, Roxanne Perez riles up the crowd by insulting their hometown and listing her NXT achievements. She also tells IYO her time at the top will be cut short by her.
#3. IYO Sky vs. Roxanne Perez – Winner: IYO Sky
Roxanne Perez offers a handshake and the champion accepts. As Perez leaves the ring, Giulia appears to blindside IYO. It was a setup by her and Roxanne to send a statement.
During the break, War Raiders, The New Day and Chad Gable talk to Adam Pearce about who the #1 contenders will be. It is decided the War Raiders will face the Creed Brothers to see who can earn a shot against the champions.
#4. Rusev vs. Otis (w/ Alpha Academy) – Winner: Rusev via submission
Akira Tozawa offers to fight Rusev, but he isn’t interested. When Tozawa turns his back, Rusev quickly returns to the ring and causes maximum damage to Alpha Academy. Officials show up to protect them, and Adam Pearce let’s Rusev know he isn’t happy to see that.
We have a face-to-face interview in the ring with Gunther and Pat McAfee, overseen by Adam Pearce. Gunther promises he won’t do anything tonight, as he won’t spoil it for himself. The crowd reminds him he tapped out at WrestleMania 41. Pat McAfee tells us that for 28 years, except for three times, Michael Cole has dedicated his life to this company. He has earned his right to have an opinion.
Seeing as his opinion pissed him off so much, Pat would like to share his right now. Before he does, he puts over Omaha, Nebraska. This city is a symbol of working hard and dreams coming true. Dreams is a good word, as he thinks they have a lot in common. Both of them grew up wanting to be in this business, idolizing the stars of yesteryear.
The problem with his dream is Gunther has been a champion 80% of the time he has been here, so he has become jaded to the point this is merely a job. McAfee still has the same love and passion for this, while Gunther doesn’t want it anymore. He has gotten too comfortable and will underestimate, much like he did with Sami Zayn and Jey Uso. This version of Gunther is soft.
In response, Gunther says Saturday is a special day for him, as he will return more focused than ever before. He promises Pat his full and undivided attention. When that bell rings, he will beat him up, maul him, and drive his head in to this mat. Then, he will choke him out until he drops like a wet towel. Trust him when he says this, only the grace of the God will lift his hands off his throat.
#5. [World Heavyweight Championship] Jey Uso (c) vs. Seth Rollins (w/ Bron Breakker & Paul Heyman) – Winner: No Contest after CM Punk’s interference
Sami Zayn helped out to begin with, but it wasn’t enough until CM Punk showed up swinging a steel chair around.
