WWE RAW (9/16/2024)

CM Punk opens the show. He takes a while to say anything. When he finally speaks he says he is at the point of his career that sometimes people ask him how many matches does he have left in this old bones? Depending on how you feel, the answer is either wildly disappointing or happy, because the answer is way more than you think. When he came back to WWE, he did not come here to make friends. That did not necessarily mean he came to make a mortal enemy, to where they have to settle it in a Hell In A Cell.

He feels a bit naive to think this was over. Maybe Drew is to think that it was after he dragged his wife and dog in to this mess. We probably all agree it should have stopped when McIntyre sent him to a hospital two weeks ago, but is too damn stubborn. Drew’s fatal mistake is not getting the job done. And now things are drastically different, people can ask him how many Hell In A Cell matches has he got left in him. The honest answer is zero.

His little sister asked him not to do this. His wife asked him. Maybe the angel on his shoulder begged him not to do this. So, armed with all of that information, please allow me to tell you exactly why he is going to do this. The last time he was in Portland, he told Drew not to push him, or he would become the devil himself. The devil in his heart tells him this ends in Hell In A Cell. To Drew, he can’t promise he won’t kill him. He is going to make him bleed and that he will have to kill him, because he is prepared to die. Punk is prepared for this to be the end, and if he is as well, then he will see him in hell.

Backstage, Sheamus repeatedly calls Pete Dunne “Butch” ahead of their match. Are we ready for a banger?!

#1. Sheamus vs. Pete Dunne Winner: Pete Dunne after using a cricket bat behind the referee’s back

#2. Zoey Stark (w/ Pure Fusion Collective) vs. Natalya (w/ Zelina Vega & Lyra Valkryia) Winner: Zoey Stark

In a backstage segment with Rhea Ripley and Finn Balor, he told her that he encouraged Dom to get with Liv. Jey Uso showed up, so Balor left. There was a funny comment about Jey asking Rhea if he is not in her league, and she said “nooo”. Then, he headed to the ring. And now, he is talking about trying to get his first singles title and officially become “Main Event” Jey Uso.

The IC Champion interrupts him. Bron Breakker thinks Jey Uso is inspiring. He has been here for fourteen years. There is no doubt he is a big star. The fans love him and love chanting “Yeet”. But the funny thing is, he has done more as a singles star than he has in his entire career. And he did it without his father, his uncle, or his family name. He did it all by himself. Breakker says he is a dog, and that’s what he does. He will expose Jey Uso as a guy who is nothing without his family.

Jey Uso sees it in him. He has that dog in him. Jey won’t take him lightly, but he has been here six months. He has been here for fourteen years, winning championships while he was a baby in diapers. We will see what he is made of, and his reign will end short and sweet like his NFL career. Breakker strikes with a cheap shot, but Jey counters with a spear!

Backstage, Iyo Sky calls Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill cowards for wanting to face Damage CTRL while Kairi Sane has an injured eye. Belair suggests that they have a singles match instead, and Iyo happily accepts.

#3. [World Tag Team Championship] The Judgment Day’s Finn Balor & JD McDonagh (c) vs. The New Day’s Kofi Kingston & Xavier Woods Winners: Judgment Day retains

The match was full of interference from Judgment Day and the LWO. Xavier Woods had the win in the bag, but the referee was outside the ring dealing with the Judgment Day. Kofi Kingston was taken out and couldn’t help his partner, so Woods got double teamed. After the match, Xavier Woods showed some clear frustration and told Kofi Kingston he has had enough of this.

Backstage, Kofi Kingston finds Xavier Woods telling off the LWO for interfering. Kofi tells him he was the one who asked them to be out there. Woods asks why they need help now? And Kingston says it is because they don’t have Big E. This frustrates Xavier more, because he thinks Kofi believes they aren’t good enough on their own, but also, he does not like that the LWO knows the plan while he is being constantly left in the dark.

#4. Braun Strowman vs. Bronson Reed Winner: Did Not Start

This match did not technically start. They broke the top rope and an intense fight went on in the ring, at ringside, and then backstage, breaking all kinds of things along the way. Absolute carnage.

Sami Zayn makes his way to the ring. He tells the crowd that he needs to become champion, but unfortunately, their current champion has repeatedly declined his challenges. He says it is because he is not on his level. Sami does not believe that, and he doesn’t believe it, either. He remembers exactly what happened at WrestleMania. If they did Zayn vs. Gunther II, he knows he could beat him again. He won’t accept because he is scared.

Ludwig Kaiser interrupts him to ask what he is doing here. Gunther isn’t scared of him. He is the most dominant force in WWE right now. If anything, he is trying to save him from the worst embarrassment of his life. Let’s talk about WrestleMania. Undoubtedly, it was the greatest night of his career. He saw his family looking up to him instead of down. Miracles never happen twice. This will never happen again.

Zayn finds it strange that Kaiser is out here to talk for Gunther. In fact, he doesn’t need Kaiser for anything. He doesn’t think Ludwig needs Gunther either. He clearly has some desire and wants to prove he can stand on his own two feet. But do you think he will win respect by coming out here as Gunther’s mouthpiece? If he has a problem, fair enough. Say it. But don’t speak for Gunther. Have the balls to speak for yourself.

The champion arrives. Gunther asks Kaiser if there is anything he needs to tell him. Ludwig says there is something he has wanted to get off his chest for a long time. He hits Sami with a surprise lariat! Gunther tells Zayn that regarding his challenge, the answer is and will remain no.

Backstage, Liv Morgan tells Damian Priest it wasn’t hard for the Judgment Day to decide to get rid of him and Ripley. Priest admires Liv for having a set, but she won’t have them for long. And as for Dominik, he will get his hands on him soon.

#5. Bianca Belair (w/ Jade Cargill) vs. Iyo Sky (w/ Kairi Sane) Winner: Iyo Sky

Ahead of the main event, Ilja Dragunov wishes Jey Uso the best of luck with Bron Breakker. After Jey leaves, the Judgment Day surrounds Ilja. Finn Balor tells him to pick his friends wisely, and this is the only friendly warning he will get.

#6. Damian Priest (w/ Rhea Ripley) vs. Dominik Mysterio (w/ Judgment Day) Winner: Damian Priest

The Judgment Day uses their numbers immediately after the match. Rhea Ripley tries to save Priest, but Morgan pushes her in to the steel steps. Jey Uso walks out, but he isn’t in any rush to get in the ring. Spear! A hooded Bron Breakker got even. The Judgment Day hit several finishers on the Terror Twins, and there is no saving them. The Judgment Day poses over their lifeless bodies.
