We bring you live coverage for the episode of WWE SmackDown airing on February 2, 2024.
Logan Paul opens the show in the ring and admits that this place sucks. He underestimated Kevin Owens, despite looking like a pissed off doughnut. In their match, KO did more damage to him than Floyd Mayweather. And yet, he still lost, and he is still the champ. When is it going to click? He is unbreakable. He is your United States Champion. If you think… Kevin Owens interrupts.
He admits he did not walk away with the title, but it was a moral victory, because he got to knock the hell out of him. Now, he is ready to bring back a level of prestige to that title, by taking it from him and having it sanitized. Logan says it is a shame he did not take advantage of his one-and-only shot. He took the bait with the brass knuckles. KO is no stranger to doing anything to win, but he got caught. He compliments the referee for doing a fantastic job.
The next time he and Logan Paul get in the ring for the title, he does not need the brass knuckles to beat his ass. Logan tells KO he stinks and is going to look for a real challenger. The champion joins commentary for the next match.
#1. Kevin Owens vs. Austin Theory (w/ Grayson Waller) – Winner: Kevin Owens
Naomi and Tiffany Stratton confirm they have signed SmackDown contracts. Stratton is not happy that she did not get an applause like Naomi, so she attacks Michin.
Bianca Belair asks Nick Aldis if he can set up a match, but Logan Paul interrupts the conversation and demands he do something about Kevin Owens. Belair calls him rude, so Logan tells Aldis to get his show under control.
Santos Escobar and Legado Del Fantasma have a toast to loyalty and respect. They will represent their forefathers.
#2. [Championship Qualifier Match] Pretty Deadly vs. Pete Dunne & Tyler Bate vs. LWO’s Cruz Del Toro & Joaquin Wilde (w/ Zelina Vega) vs. Legado Del Fantasma’s Angel & Humberto (w/ Elektra Lopez) – Winners: Pete Dunne & Tyler Bate
Backstage, Iyo Sky tells Asuka and Kairi Sane that they are done with Bayley tonight. After they walk out of the locker room, an upset Bayley appears from behind the corner having heard what she said.
Bayley and Damage CTRL make their way to the ring (except Dakota Kai). Nick Aldis & Adam Pearce are present. Bayley says she has done so much in her career, but this year is different and special. She did not get here on her own, because she had her girls. Bayley had something she never had before going into WrestleMania. They were there through all the highs & lows. Damage CTRL isn’t just the best women’s faction of all time, they are family.
So, when she thinks about WrestleMania, she thinks about moments, and being the best. if she wants to be the absolute best, she has to beat the best, which brings her to Rhea Ripley. Or she can fight a different fight, because sometimes it is not all about holding a title. It can be personal. It can be what is in your heart and proving doubters wrong. Sometimes, the people who thought supported you, and who you thought were your friends, sometimes you have to prove them wrong.
She asks Damage CTRL if they are done laughing. She picked up all the Japanese they spoke behind her back. Bayley has done it all. She knows what is going on around her, and they speak about her all the time. All she wanted was to take this team to the top at WrestleMania, but do they see nothing in her? What happened? Ever since Asuka and Kairi Sane came around, Iyo Sky turned her back on her.
Damage CTRL blindside Bayley, who drops to the corner of the ring. While she is on the mat, Bayley slyly grabs a stashed pipe from under the ring and uses it against Asuka and Kairi Sane, but stops at Iyo Sky. The champion backs out of the ring, and Bayley confirms she will challenge Iyo Sky for her title at WrestleMania.
#3. The Final Testament’s Karrion Kross & Authors Of Pain (w/ Paul Ellering & Scarlett) vs. Bobby Lashley & Street Profits – Winners: Did Not Start
The two stables fought before the bell could ring. B-Fab showed up to serve as an equalizer for Scarlett. Lashley & Street Profits got the better of Final Testament this time.
Backstage, Adam Pearce & Nick Aldis continue to entice new signings, including Bron Breakker & Jade Cargill.
#4. Michin vs. Tiffany Stratton – Winner: Tiffany Stratton with a Moonsault
Cody Rhodes is to decide who he will face at WrestleMania. Roman Reigns makes his way to the ring first. He says that there were some things on RAW he cannot let slide. Seth Rollins said he has THE title… while Reigns beat everyone challenging for that title. Should that not be the loser bracket title? And apparently Seth is the guy. You can’t be running around in your wives clothes for two years and call yourself the guy. He broke his back trying to carry that show.
And then he wants to attack his schedule? Yes, he works ten times less than he does, but makes ten times more than he does. You want Seth Rollins money? Or Tribal Chief money? You see… Cody is an idiot, he has values and all that crap, so he will break it down to him with simple math. He won’t beg like the other guy. You can either be the very best #2, or you can take a crack at #1 again.
Cody Rhodes enters. He imagined this conversation would be more private, so he asks Reigns if they can have the ring to themselves. The Tribal Chief tells The Bloodline to leave. Cody says took a great deal of counsel this week. Roman cheated him at last year’s WrestleMania, and he knows that he had his numbers. Rollins made a lot of good points, but one he disagreed with is that this title is not a Hollywood title, because it once belonged to Bruno Sammartino, and the rest.
What does it mean to finish the story? Reigns says everything in WWE is his. So, is finishing the story taking that championship? Or is finishing the story taking everything from him? He makes it clear that he wants that title and everything he has. But not at WrestleMania. One of the individuals he talked to… knows him very well. The Rock is here!
The Rock and Cody shake hands, and Rock gives him a few words in his ear. Rhodes leaves the ring and walks to the back. There is a stare down between Rock and Reigns. And that is how the show ends.
