We bring you coverage for the episode of WWE SmackDown airing on May 3, 2024 from Lyon, France.
#1. Bayley, Naomi, Bianca Belair & Jade Cargill vs. Tiffany Stratton, Asuka, Kairi Sane & Dakota Kai – Winners: Bayley, Naomi, Belair & Cargill
Carmelo Hayes enters himself in to the King Of The Ring. He shows disrespect to Bobby Lashley, so he is advised not to disrespect the wrong people.
#2. New Catch Republic vs. Authors Of Pain (w/ Final Testament) – Winners: Authors Of Pain
Paul Heyman sent a memo to Nick Aldis to take Orton & Owens out of the match with The Bloodline at Backlash, but Aldis ignored it. After asking if that was at the orders of the Tribal Chief, Heyman lets it slip that he hasn’t talked to Roman Reigns at Backlash. He was the one who pulled Reigns out of the draft, and he does not want to subject him to what is going on with The Bloodline right now. Aldis tells Heyman that just like Reigns, he can try to convince Randy Orton and Kevin Owens to back out of their match during the RKO Show.
The RKO show begins with Kevin Owens welcoming the French people in French. Randy Orton calls the crowd amazing. Kevin Owens kept being called by Paul Heyman, and he eventually caved in to allow him some time on the RKO show. Heyman introduces himself as a Hall Of Famer and the Undisputed Wiseman. He is here out of respect and with wisdom. Heyman sends them a warning. Solo Sikoa and Tama Tonga operate on another level, and they would do themselves and WWE a favor.
They disagree. Then, Orton asks Heyman who is the real Tribal Chief. Heyman says there is only one Tribal Chief. Solo Sikoa & Tama Tonga jumps Orton & Owens from behind, and a fight breaks out. Security does its best to keep them apart, but Orton & Owens take out many of them and stand tall in the ring.
#3. LA Knight vs. Angel (w/ Legado Del Fantasma) – Winner: LA Knight
After the match, LA Knight officially enters himself in to the King Of The Ring, but then Santos Escobar cuts him off. While he is busy running his mouth at King Of The Ring, he will be winning. LA Knight lets him know that while he is laid out, all he will hear is everyone saying “LA Knight… Yeah!”
Carlito didn’t appreciate Rey Mysterio choosing Dragon Lee for WrestleMania, so he took him out. It was nothing personal. Dragon Lee jumps him and a fight breaks out.
#4. [WWE Tag Team Championship] Austin Theory & Grayson Waller (c) vs. Street Profits – Winners: A-Town Down Under retains
AJ Styles and Cody Rhodes talk in the ring before their title match at Backlash. Cody asks what they want to talk about in French. AJ Styles doesn’t care what they want to talk about, because he is in the ring with The Phenomenal One. The crowd goes nuts for a while until Cody quietens them.
AJ calls them disrespectful and believes Cody isn’t taking this seriously. He was welcomed in to WWE because he is Dusty’s son, while he had to scratch and claw his way in, and he still wasn’t welcome. He had legends have his back so he could finish his story. Some of those legends he has beat. AJ will find his way to the top again, to remind everyone he is phenomenal.
Cody Rhodes tells him not to downplay his accomplishment, because he earned this. When he defeats him, it will be too sweet. AJ goes to salute him with the wolf pack hand sign, but slaps him instead. Backstage, Orton & Owens get back to fighting with The Bloodline.
