Here are the full results for the episode of WWE Raw airing on April 24, 2023.
We open the show with Cody Rhodes. He asks Chicago what they want to talk about. They could talk about the WWE Draft. He could end up on SmackDown, or stay right here. We could talk about the task ahead of him in Brock Lesnar at Backlash. He turns our attention to what Lesnar did to him 3 weeks ago on the titantron. We’ve seen that, and now he wants to show us something else.
He takes off his jacket, tie, and then unbuttons his shirt. Cody shows us the scar he got from his torn pec. He asks Brock to take a look and put another scar on him. Cody remembers how much the crowd carried him through the Hell in a Cell match with Seth Rollins. He thanks them for doing that. Finn Balor interrupts and wants to let him know they all have scars. He saw him get screwed at WrestleMania, and he knows how he feels. But also, it’s because he had no one watching his back. He needs to be smarter like him.
Now, he is facing The Beast, all battered and bruised. This is a match he can’t win. Not on his own. Cody stops him. He says the only thing he is focused on is Brock Lesnar, so whatever he’s selling, he’s not buying. Balor says if he respects him, he will listen to what he has to say. He knows, and everyone else knows, that Cody Rhodes and the Judgment Day would be unstoppable. Think about it. He puts over his stablemates, before saying Cody made a mistake at WrestleMania. Don’t make the same at Backlash.
Cody isn’t looking to get into another fight, but he respectfully declines the invitation. Balor says that’s a real shame, because he’s either with them, or he’s against them. He better watch his back. Cody reveals that he was medically cleared a couple of hours ago, so he can’t think of a better message to send to Lesnar than to beat Balor tonight.
#1. The Bloodline (The Usos & Solo Sikoa) vs. The Latino World Order (Legado Del Fantasma) — Winners: The Bloodline
Backstage, Bianca Belair is excited to face IYO Sky… and then Damage CTRL interrupts her. Bayley tries talking for IYO, but she gets in Belair’s face and lets her know what she thinks in Japanese. Dakota Kai says IYO wants to face her tonight. Instead of the title match, they decide to have a 6-woman tag, and Belair will need to find two partners. IYO does not look happy with the outcome.
Elsewhere, Sami Zayn continues to tell Jey Uso what he’s doing wrong by dedicating their tag title match to Roman Reigns. He doesn’t deserve the abuse he gets. Jey asks why he cares, and Zayn says he feels bad. Jey says that like it or not, they both made their choice.
Trish Stratus says Becky Lynch isn’t doing so good because she isn’t handling the pressure of being on top of the women’s division while being a mother. Trish could see her crumbling, so she took Becky out, and the least she could do is thank her for that.
#2. Street Profits vs. Shelton Benjamin & Cedric Alexander — Winners: Street Profits
Triple H is here to make an announcement. He says he is here to talk about Roman Reigns. The undisputed WWE Universal Champion who is coming up on 1000 days. It is incredible and unheard of in the modern era. He has defended it against everybody. Roman Reigns is that damn good, but he did something smart along the way. He negotiated a way, so he did not have to defend the title frequently. But WWE deserves more. The fans deserve more than that.
A couple of weeks ago, Triple H said the draft would change the game. Whichever way Roman Reigns goes, he will take the undisputed WWE Universal Championship with him. But whichever way he goes, the other brand will crown a new champion. A World Heavyweight Champion. Triple H unveils a pretty nice looking gold championship title belt. This new champion will not demand acknowledgement, but will instead earn the recognition of being the World Heavyweight Champion.
Backstage, Jey Uso asks Jimmy what happens if they don’t win on Friday. Jey says he had been talking to Sami Zayn, which makes Jimmy irate. They are winning this Friday. No doubts.
#3. Bianca Belair, Liv Morgan & Raquel Rodriguez vs. Damage Ctrl’s Bayley, IYO Sky & Dakota Kai — Winners: Belair, Morgan & Rodriguez
Austin Theory says Bronson Reed and Bobby Lashley want this experience. He looks at the new World title and says it should be around his waist. If anyone deserves it, it is him. The fans chant “You Suck”, but he reminds them he beat John Cena at WrestleMania. Lashley interrupts him. He asks if he’s lazy, or if he’s scared. He was the one who requested the triple threat match. Theory asks why he didn’t request a match at WrestleMania.
They get into a fight and a short while later, Bronson Reed joins in and forms a temporary alliance with Theory. After taking out Lashley, Reed turns on Theory and squashes him with the Tsunami. Bronson sends a statement by holding up the United States title.
#4. Chad Gable (w/ Otis & Maxxine Dupri) vs. Mustafa Ali — Winner: Mustafa Ali
Jimmy Uso catches up with Sami Zayn and tells him to leave Jey alone. The truth is they are taking the titles this Friday. When they lose the titles, Kevin Owens will turn on him, and he will deserve it.
#5. Cody Rhodes vs. Finn Balor — Winner: Cody Rhodes
Seth Rollins welcomes the crowd to Monday Night Rollins. At Backlash, he faces Omos. But if you can believe it, something bigger has caught his eye. He looks at the new World Heavyweight Championship. The fans chant “You Deserve It”. Truth be told, Triple H said some very nice things about Roman Reigns and who he beat, but do you know who is not on that list? The fact is that some of us still want to fight. This title is an opportunity to fight. It’s not about politics or part-timers. If we are going to crown a new World Heavyweight Champion, he has one guess who he will put his money on. Here comes Omos.
MVP genuinely puts Rollins over. It’s his responsibility to get his giant into giant matches, so a win over Seth Rollins would be huge. When Omos gets through with him, there won’t be much of a future for him after Backlash. Rollins thinks MVP undersold his guy, the tallest man he has ever seen. He says Omos is once of a generation because he was born that way. Seth ‘Freakin’ Rollins is once in a generation because he made himself that way. He should be afraid of him, but he’s going to do what he does best. He will make Omos famous by giving him the best match he has ever had. And in the end, everyone in the arena will sing his song.
Backstage, Kevin Owens asks Sami Zayn where he has been, who admits he was talking to The Usos. KO doesn’t understand why he still cares. It’s too late for The Usos, and they deserve whatever happens to them. They should be worried about retaining the tag titles. KO walks out. Riddle reminds Zayn that he was once part of RK-Bro with Randy Orton, and they were bros just like he and Owens are, so there’s nothing to worry about.
During the main event match, Bad Bunny finally shows up to the arena after showing he was commuting on social media throughout the night.
#6. Rey Mysterio vs. Damian Priest — Winner: Rey Mysterio via DQ after Priest used a chair
Bad Bunny is here with a kendo stick. He brings it to Damian Priest until he runs away. Bad Bunny gets on the microphone and tells Priest that in Puerto Rico, the two of them will face off at WrestleMania: Backlash in a street fight.
